HANABI Fabric Collage

This is a fabric collage I finished yesterday. It isn´t a quilt, as there is no stitching at all. It is completely fused. The top is fused to a stabilizer usually used for bags (very thin, flexible, but gives a great hold for the shape) and there is a backing fabric. But no stitching.
It wasn´t exactly planned this way, but I like the flat look and that there is no binding or stitiching around the outer lines.
It is approx. 85cm x 50cm and it is my second door hanging. This is the reason for the shape, because I like to hang these small pieces on our doors. The walls are all filled already, so why not use the doors? We have white doors, so the colours really jump at you when entering the room.
The bamboo fabric is for a challenge in one of my online groups. The challenge rules are: no traditional rectangle outline and to use this bamboo fabric. I am not sure right now if this wil be the "quilt" for the challenge as the challenge asked for a quilt, and this isn´t a quilt. But there is lots of time to do another one and I still have lots of this fabric left to find a new way of using it.

The title for this collage "Hanabi" is a japanese word and it means "Firework". I didn´t know that it would become a firework when I started, but I think the bamboo fabric let me think of Japan and the colours made me create this shape and design. The fireworks in Japan are the most beautiful fireworks I´ve ever seen in my life. The exact translation for Hanabi is Fireflower and that´s what they really are. Fireflowers that make you OOOOOHHHH and AAAAHHHH. I will never forget those fireworks in Tokyo and Yokohama. They really paint the sky - absolutely no comparisson to the fireworks we have in Germany. They are nice and colourful and loud over here, but the japanese fireworks are ART. Unbelievably beautiful.

Hanabi is just beautiful. Great colors and design. Sorry to hear about the health problems, esp. the horse fly bite! Praying that you are better soon.
