Healing Canvas

18cm x 24cm acrylic on canvas

The weekend has been filled with lots of anger and bad feelings and I had to get all this out of my system. So I took a canvas, covered it with red paint and then wrote down all the feelings I had. I let got and it felt so good. Then I started painting without a plan. Just adding colours and shapes and this is how it looks now. I really like it. It is the complete opposite to the feelings that are written down beneath it.

And some progress here:
Same colours as the canvas above. Waving "Hello" to the subconcious...

love the process notes recorded here... I have been doing some similar things with words/release/re-looking at the patterns...

your painting and commentary remind me that emotions (whether we call them 'bad' or 'good') can be viewed AS ENERGY (neither bad nor good, just flowing) -- and in that context, the painting, I think, does a vivid and wonderful job of showing the lively, sizzling, vibrant energy of anger. if only we could hold our feelings with the same detachment, or even appreciation, with which we view COLOR. is red 'bad'?

nice post.

It's certainly a very vibrant painting and full of energy. I agree with Dee - any feelings can be turned into energy. Here you have a very positive outcome for such potentially destructive emotions!

I saw your picture in someones blog roll and had to come take a closer look. Love the colors and then the example of "healing art". Such a resourceful way to use up anger. lol.

Nice quilted piece. I am really into symbols as well.
